Week 7 – Day 36 (Holy Week Tuesday)
Psalm 15 - Purity
The religious leaders were upset with Jesus for asserting Himself as a spiritual authority. They planned an ambush to arrest Him. However, Jesus evaded their traps and delivered a strong warning, saying: "Blind guides!... For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly, your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness...Snakes! Sons of Vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?" (Matthew 23:24-33)
Outwardly, the Pharisees appeared to live lives of integrity and purity, but Jesus sees into the hearts of these religious leaders and reveals their innermost selves.
Today’s psalm speaks of purity within and without. A sign of someone’s purity is a person who practices integrity so that, when storms come, they can withstand them and not be shaken.
