Week 7 - Day 35 (Holy Week - Monday)
Psalm 51:1-3, 7 – The Gift of Confession
On the Monday of Holy Week, Jesus entered Jerusalem and cleansed the Temple. The temple courts had turned into a marketplace for buying and selling animals to be sacrificed on the altar. There, moneychangers were cheating the people. What was once a sacred place had become a pigsty.
Jesus was incensed: “This is my father’s house, and you have made it a den of thieves” (Matthew 21:12-17).
Today’s psalm is a personal cry for cleansing. This psalm was a prayer of confession uttered by King David after a sinful period in his life (2 Samuel 11). The practice of confession is a gift from God to cleanse us from sin and bring healing in our relationship with Him.
As you start this Holy Week, may you experience cleansing through confession. Jesus, the perfect Lamb, was sacrificed to take away every sin!
