Week 1 - Day 3 (Friday)
Psalm 19:7-11 - Trustworthy
Jesus had a magnetism about Him that captivated people. When He taught, it was an incredible mixture of power and grace that attracted crowds. Matthew 5-7 is known as the Sermon on the Mount, highlighting the importance of inner righteousness, ethical living, and the transformative power of love and humility in pursuing true faith and discipleship. This sermon includes the timeless words of The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-11) and The Lord’s Prayer.
Today’s psalm explores the vast benefits of following the holy scriptures. The psalmist gives an account of what can be realized when holding fast to the Word of God.
- The law of the Lord is perfect. It is perfectly free from all corruption, perfectly filled with all good.
- The statutes (acts) of the Lord are trustworthy. We can be confident it will not deceive us. It is a sure discovery of the divine truth.
- The precepts of the Lord are right. They bring clarity in today’s world
- The commands of the Lord are radiant. Without darkness.
- The fear (reverence) of the Lord is pure. Purifying those who receive and embrace it.
- The decrees of the Lord are firm. Truths that are unwavering and righteous.
As Jesus stood before the crowds that gathered to hear the Sermon on the Mount, they were moved by His clarity and captivated by the love with which the law of the Lord was shared. Jesus’ teaching embodied every aspect of Psalm 19’s description.
May you be so captivated by the law of the Lord today that your deepest desire is to joyously live it out!
