Easter ReflectionsSample

During Supper, Jesus did the most servant-like thing, much to his disciples' surprise. He washed their feet! God's son stooped so low, setting an example for his disciples to pursue. "Leaders wash their followers' feet, not vice versa," is the message Christ's actions may have communicated.
And he cleaned everyone's feet, even Judas', knowing full well that he would betray him. With so few words, the disciples would be helped to forever appreciate that authentic leadership shows no partiality. Even on the verge of death, Jesus preached the heart of the Father to the disciples.
Because of sin, many of us pursue leadership simply to be above others (among other self-centred motives). Very few lead selflessly. Our country's leadership testifies to as much. Many are looting resources at the expense of those whom they are in office to serve. Such cases might be extreme, but we must all be honest about the sinfulness of our hearts and acknowledge that we, too, often fall short of Christ's example, even if with less severe consequences.
So as we reflect upon Christ's humility this Easter, it might be wise for us to ask ourselves whose feet we need to wash this week, or better yet, today!
Prayer:
LORD, please teach me true humility. Give me a heart like yours, to serve and love all without prejudice. In Christ's name, Amen.
