Bigger Than UsSample

Bigger Than Us

DAY 20 OF 30

We all love to make plans—to map out the path, set goals, and imagine what the future will look like. Planning gives us a sense of direction and control. But Proverbs 16:9 gently reminds us that while planning is wise, it’s God who determines the steps that shape our journey. Sometimes, our plans unfold exactly as we hoped. Other times, life takes a detour we never saw coming—a closed door, a delay, or a change that leaves us wondering if we missed something. Yet this verse offers deep comfort: even when our plans shift, God’s purpose stands firm. He is not surprised by the twists in the road. Every step—even the uncertain ones—can be part of His good design.

The truth is that God’s perspective is higher than ours. We see the path in pieces; He sees the whole story. When we surrender our plans to Him, we exchange control for confidence—not in ourselves, but in His faithful guidance.

So, keep planning, but hold those plans with open hands. Trust that the same God who began a good work in you will order every step to fulfill His perfect will.

What plans in your life haven’t gone the way you expected? How might God be using unexpected steps to grow your trust in Him? What would it look like to invite God into your planning process each day?

When you feel uncertain, remember: God’s direction is not a detour—it’s divine design.

About this Plan

Bigger Than Us

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
