Bigger Than UsSample

When the psalmist wrote these words, lamps weren’t floodlights—they were small clay bowls creating just enough light to illuminate the next few steps in the dark. The lamp didn’t reveal the entire journey; it simply provided enough light to keep walking without stumbling. That’s what God’s Word does for us. It doesn’t always show the full picture of our future—the destination, the timeline, the “how it all works out.” Instead, it gives us just enough light for the step in front of us. A word of comfort in grief. A nudge toward forgiveness. A reminder of God’s faithfulness when fear crowds in.
So often, we want God to hand us a map. But instead, He gives us a lamp—His Word—that keeps us close to Him, dependent on His presence as we walk. Each verse, each promise, each truth becomes a steady flame that keeps us from losing our way in the dark.
Where in your life do you feel like you’re walking in the dark right now? What might it look like to slow down and let God’s Word guide your next step—not the next year?
Try reading a short passage of Scripture each morning this week and asking: “What step does this light up for me today?”

About this Plan

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
