The High Cost of Loneliness
Loneliness isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s lethal.
According to global research, 1 in 6 people are battling loneliness. That’s over 100 people dying every hour from isolation-related health problems. Let that sink in. Loneliness is killing more people than some diseases. It wrecks your mind, body, and soul. It isolates you from others, but worse, it distances you from the help and hope God provides through community.
God never designed life to be a solo mission. From the beginning, He placed us in families, churches, and communities. Why? Because we fall. We get tired. We drift. And we need someone to lift us back up.
The devil loves isolation. That’s where his lies get loudest: “No one cares,” “You’re better off alone,” “Don’t bother them.” But God’s truth cuts through the noise in Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Two are better than one... a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Healing starts when you stop hiding. Strength comes when you stop pretending. You don’t need a crowd; just one solid connection can make all the difference.
Don’t underestimate the power of one small act of connection. Jesus left the 99 to pursue the one, and sometimes, you are called to be that one who shows up. Your call could interrupt someone’s spiral. Your text could break their silence. You don’t have to fix everything, just be present. That’s how we fight the loneliness epidemic, one lifeline at a time.
Who will you reach out to today? A call, a text, an invite, it could be the lifeline they (or you) desperately need.
