Day 2: When Things Run Out
Scripture: John 2:3–5 (NIV)
"When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, 'They have no more wine.' 'Woman, why do you involve me?' Jesus replied. 'My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'"
The wine ran out. In that culture, that wasn't just an inconvenience. It was a social disaster. The kind of thing people would talk about for years. The family hosting this wedding was about to be humiliated in front of their entire community.
And Mary brought it to Jesus. Not a crisis of faith. Not a life-or-death emergency. A party problem. She walked up to her son and said, essentially, "They're out of wine. Do something."
What's remarkable is that she didn't hesitate. She didn't think this was too small for Jesus. She didn't filter it first and decide it wasn't spiritual enough to bring to Him. She just brought it.
That's worth paying attention to. Because most of us have a mental list of things we think are "big enough" to bring to God. The serious stuff. The real problems. And then there's everything else, the everyday disappointments, the small embarrassments, the things that feel too minor to pray about.
Mary didn't make that distinction. And Jesus didn't correct her for bringing something small. He showed up for it.
You don't have to wait for a crisis to bring something to God. He cares about what you care about. The thing that feels too small to mention is exactly the kind of thing He wants you to bring.
Reflect: What's something you've been dealing with that you haven't brought to God because it felt too small or too ordinary?
Today:Bring it to Him. Out loud if you can. Don't filter it. Just tell Him what's going on and trust that He's interested.
