Day 5: What the Miracle Was Really About
Scripture: John 2:11 (NIV)
"What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs Jesus performed. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him."
John calls it a sign. Not just a miracle. A sign points to something beyond itself. And what this sign pointed to was who Jesus actually is.
He didn't turn water into wine just to save a party. He did it to reveal His glory. To show the people around Him something true about God that they hadn't fully seen yet. That God is generous. That God is present in ordinary moments. That God cares about human joy. That the Kingdom He's bringing is one of abundance, not scarcity.
And the result? His disciples believed.
Your joy can do the same thing. When you experience genuine, God-given joy and you don't hide it, when you celebrate openly and include God in your good moments, it becomes a sign to the people around you. It points to something real.
The world has a version of fun that leaves people empty. You've probably felt it. The party that was supposed to be great but left you hollow. The thing you chased that didn't satisfy. That emptiness is actually an invitation. It's pointing people toward something they haven't found yet.
When your joy is different, when it's full and real and connected to something bigger than the moment, people notice. And sometimes that's what opens the door for them to ask what's different about you.
Your celebration can be a testimony. Let it be one.
Reflect: Has anyone ever noticed something different about your joy? Or have you been keeping it too contained for anyone to see?
Today: Celebrate something real today. Out loud. With gratitude. Let your joy be visible. Let it point somewhere.
