FINANCE
The Bible speaks about our finances as there are 2,350 verses that speaks on money. Maybe because God knows how important money is to man. It has been said that if we have a money problem, then our problem is not about money but spiritual. So what are the Bible principles on money?
First, we need to recognize that God is the source of everything (PH 4.19). Whenever we need money, prayer is the answer because God will provide always.
Second, giving is essential. In DEUT 14:23, one purpose of tithing is to reach God's people to put God first in their lives.
Third, the Bible encourages savings (PRO 21.20). The book of Proverbs uses the ant to illustrate to us the value of savings for the rainy day.
Fourth, keep out of debt. PRO 22.7 states that the minute a person goes into debt, he loses some of his freedom because he becomes a slave to the lender.
Fifth, learn to be content. HEB 13.5 tells us to avoid covetousness and learn to be content.
Sixth, learn to budget (PRO 23.23) If we want to be good stewards of God's money, learn to keep a record as if you have a plan. Be honest with yourself. And when you learn to properly budget, you will not get into financial trouble.
Lastly, seek God's counsel (PS 1.1) Before making any major financial decision, seek advice. As one learns to follow these eternal principles in our finances, he will know the joy and blessings that comes from trusting and obeying God.
