River Valley Church SOAP - Part 10Sample

The writer compares the refining of gold and silver to how the Lord refines the heart of His followers. Gold and silver were both refined in a graphite crucible at over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. The metal needed to be poured without freezing, but it also cannot be so hot that a destructive crystalline structure forms an alloy before the metal cools. The refining process requires the expertise of the tools and metals. Near eastern wisdom was seen in the speech of people. Wise people know how to use their words appropriately with self-control, understanding that speaking too much will lead to trouble. A person's silence was adored and valued more than chatter, and that one should only speak if there is something positive to say.
