DAY 11 OF 20

WEEK 3: YOUR CIRCLE

The people you walk with shape who you’re becoming. Choose your circle wisely.

Day 11: Influence Is Always Flowing

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)

“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”

Paul drops this line in the middle of a chapter about resurrection. He’s not giving general life advice. He’s confronting people in the Corinthian church who were being pulled away from truth by the voices around them. False teachers were influencing believers to doubt foundational things about their faith.

And Paul’s response is blunt: don’t be misled. The people you surround yourself with will shape you. Period.

This isn’t a warning about having non-Christian friends. Jesus spent time with all kinds of people. The point is about your closest circle, the people who get the most access to your mind, your habits, and your heart. Those relationships are never neutral. They’re either pulling you toward who God made you to be or slowly pulling you away.

Influence doesn’t announce itself. It happens slowly, silently, consistently. You pick up someone’s language. Their attitude. Their priorities. Before you know it, you’re making choices you never thought you’d make because the people around you normalized it.

This week, we’re looking honestly at the friendships in your life. Not to make you paranoid, but to help you see what’s shaping you and whether your circle is helping you grow or holding you back.

Reflect: If you’re honest, are your closest friendships pulling you closer to Jesus or further from Him? How can you tell?

Today: Write down the names of the three to five people you spend the most time with. Next to each name, write one way they influence you. Be honest about what you see.
