As humans, we all tend to wonder what God is like. Sure, we hear all kinds of things about who God is—that God is loving, God is kind, God is good, God is faithful, God is just, God is powerful. But how can we actually know that’s true? When push comes to shove, how can we be sure we actually know what God is really like? Good news: We can find our answer in Jesus. As the Son of God, Jesus is the living embodiment of God's character. Whatever we see in Jesus, we can trust that it’s a representation of God. When Jesus says He is loving, that means God is loving. When Jesus says He is kind, that means God is kind. When Jesus says He is just, that means God is just. Whatever attributes we see in Jesus, we can trust they reflect the characteristics of God Himself. So, if we want to know more about God, we can look to Jesus. When we walk with Jesus and remain in Him, we are walking with and remaining in the very nature of the loving God who sent Jesus to the world for us.
This week, read more about Jesus in the book of John. As you do, write down attributes of His love and character that help you remember the love and character of God Himself.

About this Plan

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
